Magna Cum Murder XXIII – October 20-22, 2017

Once again I’ll be attending the Magna Cum Murder Crime Writing Festival in Indianapolis, Indiana. This is a wonderful event that brings together mystery writers and fans in a comfortable, friendly setting. A wide range of authors will be in attendance, from cozies to thrillers, with something for everyone!

I’ll be participating on two panels this year. On Saturday morning, join me at “Digging Up The Past: When your protagonist unearths secrets, literally and metaphorically” for a fun and interesting discussion on hidden secrets. Pretty fitting session for me, as archaeology is all about digging up the mysteries of the past! A book signing will follow, where I’ll happily answer any questions about archaeology, mysteries, and more!

On Saturday afternoon, I’ll be sitting in on the “No Man (Or Woman) Is An Island” panel, where we will have a lively discussion on the joys (and pitfalls) of supporting characters in mystery fiction. How do they help -or hurt- the protagonist, and would your favorite mysteries be the same without them? Stop by and join the discussion!

All this and dozens of other interesting panels, signings, and more. Hope to see you there!

Book Signing at Parkland College in Champaign, Illinois

Wonderful time at Parkland College, and my thanks to all the students and faculty who attended! Great turnout, and lots of good questions from the audience. The Parkland College Library staff were exceptionally helpful and did a fantastic job setting up the venue.

2016 Magna cum Murder Photos!

Had a wonderful time at Magna cum Murder in Indianapolis, Indiana! Met some great fellow authors and lots of interesting, engaging mystery fans.

Also shared a book table with author Molly MacRae.

And even sold some copies of Sunken Dreams! Very exciting for my first book signing – I had a line! Already looking forward to a return visit in 2017!

Upcoming Events!

In October, I will be attending to wonderful book events in the Midwest.

Indie Author Day, Mahomet Public Library, Mahomet, Illinois (October 8, 2016). The day’s events include writing workshops for adults, teens, and youths; presentations on local history and folktales by two prominent area writers; and a local author Meet-and-Greet and book signing. Stop by in the afternoon to discuss archaeology, mysteries, and more! Additional details can be found at the Mahomet Public Library’s website: www.mahometpubliclibrary.org. Hope to see you there!

Magna Cum Murder XXII, Indianapolis, Indiana (October 28-30, 2016). On Halloween weekend, I’ll be attending the Magna Cum Murder Crime Writing Festival, sponsored by Ball State University. For over 20 years this event has brought together a fantastic crowd of crime writers, mystery readers, and booksellers, for a three-day celebration of the genre. Numerous panels, signings, and activities are planned, with something for everyone! The early reviews are in!

Sunken Dreams is a well-written and engrossing whodunit. Kuehn’s deft handling of plot and character bring the mystery to a satisfying conclusion…”

-Sarah Wisseman, author of Burnt Siena, Catacomb, and Bound for Eternity

“For years I have hoped for an archaeological mystery set in Wisconsin and Steven Kuehn’s initial Jake Caine novel fills the bill admirably. It is a well-written, well-plotted tale, stocked with believable characters. Four enthusiastic trowels for Sunken Dreams!”

Bill Gresens, Book Reviewer, Mississippi Valley Archaeology Center, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse
